Dr. Mike Ma serves as Vice President of Corporate Research and Development at Siliconware Precision Industries Co., Ltd (SPIL). Prior to his joining SPIL in 2010, he has served variety of positions in the United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC) in total of 14 years, including director of corporate marketing; director of exploratory technologies development in R&D that he was responsible for 28nm technology (including high-k dielectric and metal gates) initial development, and the 65nm SOI technology development. Before working in R&D field, he was departmental director of process integration engineering of fab 8D, process section manager, and member of two fab start-up teams.

Dr. Ma also worked in WaferTech L.L.C.(now a TSMC company), The Institute of Microelectronics (IME) of Singapore, and the Metal Industries Research & Development Centre.

He received the B.S. degree from National Cheng-Kung University; M.S. from Northeastern University of Boston and Ph.D. degree from North Carolina State University; all majored in materials science and engineering.
